Snap’s Top 5 Favourite Xmas Adverts

It’s Christmaaaaaaas..!

The holiday season is upon us, and at Snap we can’t help but get into the festive spirit. As a creative agency, we have a special appreciation for the magic of storytelling and the power of visual artistry. Christmas video ads have become a cornerstone for brands to showcase their creativity, warmth, and the true spirit of the season. In this blog, we share some of the team’s all-time favourite Christmas video ads that have captured our hearts.

  1. Capital One – Holiday Night Fever

First up on our list is Capital One’s ‘’Holiday Night Fever’’ campaign. Directed by Oscar-nominated writer Bryan Buckley, this groovy Xmas ad brings buckets of festive feel-good. Featuring the Bee Gees’ disco classic ‘’Staying Alive’’ and Hollywood heavy-hitter John Travolta, its cheeky tone is far removed from the heart-string-tugging ads that typically grace our screens during the festive period.

2. IRN BRU – Phenomenal Christmas

Next up is the visually stunning ‘’Phenomenal Christmas’’ advert from IRN BRU. Commissioned by The Leith Agency this ad was originally aired way back in 2006 and has since become a seasonal favorite in Scotland. Using illustrations from Robin Shaw it boasts a unique visual style that evokes the familiarity and excitement of childhood Christmas memories.

3. John LewisThe Man on the Moon

There are a whole host of awesome Xmas ads from John Lewis, but their 2015 ‘’Man on the Moon” ad hits different. Directed by Kim Gehrig and shot by André Chemetoff it tugs at the heartstrings and brings a tear to the eye of any Scrooge. The advert also demonstrates how the best brands use their marketing efforts to address social challenges like reducing loneliness for the elderly. Well done John Lewis!

4. Aldi – Kevin The Carrot

First appearing on our screens in 2016, Aldi’s Kevin The Carrot advert was the brainchild of Mancunian ad agency McCann Manchester. Thanks to his cheeky yet charming persona Kevin the Carrot has become a much-loved festive icon and a mainstay of Aldi’s Xmas Marketing efforts ever since. Props to you Aldi for harnessing the power of the humble Christmas carrot.

5. Asda – Have Your Elf a Merry Christmas

Last but by no means least on our list is Asda’s Have Your Elf a Merry Christmas ad. Hilarious, wholesome, and nostalgic, this festive treat features Will Farrell as Buddy from the much-loved Christmas Classic ‘Elf’. Created by Havas London, with post-production by Framestore, the campaign brings the classic film back to life and delivers some serious Xmas Cheer.

So there you have it, Snap’s top Five Xmas video adverts. We hope you enjoyed them as much as we did. Until next year. Happy Xmas from the team at Snap.
